IMG 71661 Snow Day

A pic I took before I went school last Thursday. It seems like I had to wait until I was 22 to get for my wishes of snow to be granted. However, now that those wishes have been granted and I’ve had to shovel snow, slip in snow, loose control of my car and not be able to break in snow, the snow can keep it’s ass up north. Oh and I love this post I read on Dallas Dirt. I particulary like “This was taken on Saturday when everyone else’s yard looked like Afghanistan.” Yeah it looked like a “war zone” around town as many people said because of all the fallen trees and power lines!

Dallas Neiman Marcus 2 1024x756 Dark Days at Neiman Marcus

“As a result, the iconic store that Herbert Marcus Sr., his sister Carrie Marcus Neiman, and her husband A.L. Neiman founded in Dallas 102 years ago finds itself playing a waiting game under Tansky—preserving liquidity while finding a way to break what appears to be a psychological logjam in consumer confidence, as well as real losses in disposable income.”

The Dallas Cowboys win 34-14… it’s about time. If they end up going all the way (hopefully) this decade is going to be the new 90’s!

D Magazine named Bolsa one the “The Best New Restaurants in Dallas 2009″ and I have to agree. While Bolsa might not be “new” it sure has grown and made a nice reputation for itself. Also I’m thinking it might be new in the sense that all of Dallas is now hip to to the little joint. Anyway, it’s a great place with amazing food and I’m a big fan of the pulled pork sandwich along with the fresh garden salad, which taste like whoa. I took my my friend there for her birthday back in October and our lunch togteher was only around $21.00. Not only is Bolsa easy on the stomach, its easy on your wallet, so if you’re around the old Oakcliff area stop by Bolsa in the Bishop Arts District.

This is why I love Dallas too!

Dallas Skyline This is why I love Dallas too!

Out of D Magazines 119 Reasons Why We Love Dallas, these are my fav reasons why I love my city so much!

“We’ve got the luxuries of a D.C., NYC, San Francisco, etc., but there is just a better vibe that comes from our people. And I just can’t seem to home in on exactly why that is, but I know that I can have a conversation with a complete stranger no matter where I am, whether it’s a convenience store, restaurant, elevator, or parking lot. Being an insane extrovert, I love it!”

Yesterday evening, storms rolled in and caused major chaos. I was laying in bed taking a nap before I headed to work and I was hearing all this beating, but that beating was thunder. Shortly after the Tornado siren went off and I rolled my eyes. Then the wind picked up and broke our shade umbrella and rain soon followed. I left early and while driving branches were already in the street, stop lights were out on major intersections and I’m like it hasn’t even started pouring yet! So when I got to work everything was locked up! In my head I’m going yes!!!!!!!! I was about to drive off when my coworker pulled up and was like call the manager. Disappointedly I had to go to work and apparently if it rains really hard and if there is a possibility of a Tornado they lock the store down and customers and associates have to the designated Tornado spot.

Everyone was almost finished and the lights flickered. Then hail started pounding and I’m like shit! The rain picked up even more and the power went completely out. Everyone gathered where the most light was,and  the bitching began. I’m thinking I do not want to die with these people. The power came back on in 20 minutes and when I was leaving I could see police cars and ambulances racing up I-20. About 2 a.m. it started back up and finally stopped an hour ago (it’s 1:31 p.m. here.) The good thing about all of this is that I got some GOOD SLEEP and I don’t have to worry about watering the yard. Plus I’m just that weird that I find storms comforting…
